Having worked as in-house counsel for a criminal defence firm in London, I have conducted complex Crown Court trials including robberies, violent offences and frauds securing some difficult wins. I have conducted a variety of hearings including Appeal hearings, and legal arguments such as bad character, abuse of process, admissibly and proceeds of crime.

Notable Cases:

R v K (2021) Harrow Crown Court

I represented one of 2 defendant’s charged with multiple drug and firearms offences. The case involved complex legal arguments surrounding admissibility of evidence, as well as conflicting expert evidence surrounding the classification of the firearms. The case is ongoing.

R v T (2019) Central Criminal Court

I represented a male of previous good character facing charges of wounding with intent. Jury acquitted him of the more serious charges, instead convicting him of section 20 wounding, meaning he was able to avoid custody and carry on with his job and career without too much disruption. The case involved complex issues surrounding hearsay and unsuccessful legal arguments from the crown to adduce previous complaints.

R v B (2018) St Alban’s Crown Court

I represented a male charged with 4 counts of sexual assault on a child. The case attracted some media attention due to the defendant’s standing in his particular community, and involved much preparation taking into consideration vulnerabilities of witnesses and particularly tailored cross examination.

R v M (2017) Woolwich Crown Court

I represented a male of previous good character who pleaded not guilty to death by dangerous driving. Complicated expert evidence was called, where much expertise had to be called to determine the deceased’s role and the conditions of the road.

R v A (2017) Inner London Crown Court

I represented a male charged with 2 counts of historical rapes and 2 counts of indecent assault. After a 3 week trial, and complex legal issues surrounding doli incapax and the defendant’s age at the time of the alleged offences, I presented HHJ Donne with a case which had been decided days earlier in the Court of Appeal, dealing with almost identical facts. The rape matters were disposed of at half time after a successful submission of no case to answer, followed by the jury acquitting Mr A of the remaining 2 counts.

R v N (2016) Kingston Crown Court

First on the indictment in a serious multihanded robbery and firearms case involving complex cell site analysis and cut throat defences. The case was heavily affected by bullying and pressure from other defendant’s in an attempt to have my client take responsibility for the firearm which was contrary to his instructions. Despite all parties being convicted, my client received by far he shortest sentence after successfully arguing a difference in roles.

R v M (2015) Woolwich Crown Court

I represented a male charged with two counts of rape. Having had one count disposed of before the trial, the Defendant was eventually found not guilty by a unanimous jury on a retrial.

R v Rebekah Brooks, Clive Goodman & Others "The Phone Hacking Trial" (2013-2014) Central Criminal Court

I have worked closely with Counsel representing Clive Goodman in the News of the World Phone Hacking trial at the Central Criminal Court from the outset of proceedings. I have been heavily involved in case preparation and analysis.

R v W (2014) Appeal at Isleworth Crown Court

Appeal successfully granted after guilty conviction in the Youth Court for offence of robbery.

R v D (2014) Isleworth Crown Court

First on the indictment in a three-handed robbery in West London involving complex issues of identity, abuse of process from the police and admissibility of identification evidence.

R v L (2014) Central Criminal Court

Having represented the young man at the police station and Magistrates Court, I assisted Queens Counsel in the preparation of his murder trial which involved an insanity defence. The matter was not awarded Junior Counsel but I nevertheless liaised with solicitors, experts and the client’s family throughout the proceedings.

R v F (2014) Wood Green Crown Court

Second on the indictment in a three-handed violent disorder in North London involving gang crime and weapons. Unanimous Not Guilty verdict by the jury after a two week trial.

R v J (2014) Wood Green Crown Court

Second on the indictment in a large scale Money Laundering operation involving Casino Gaming Licences. Hung Jury after a two week trial, Crown confirm no retrial and Not Guilty verdict entered by Judge.
